SummaHealth Police

Summa Health Protective Services/Police Department works 24 hours-a-day, 365 days a year, providing Summa Health System Campuses with law-enforcement services that provide for a safe and secure environment. The department is comprised of both state certified Security Officers and Police Officers. Summa Health Police Officers are fully commissioned by the State of Ohio and have law-enforcement authority identical to their municipal police counterparts. All of our officers bring a vast and ranging knowledge, as well as, experience to their job which allows them to effectively respond to the needs of the campus community. Further, many officers possess advanced training in Patrol Techniques, Community Policing, Firearms, Instructional Skills, Leadership and Development, Investigative Techniques (including a Master Criminal Investigator), Use of Force Standards and Application, Crime Scene Preservation, and Evidence Collection to name a few. All Patrol Officers have and continually receive advance training on First Aid and CPR (to include administering NARCAN), De-Escalation Skills, and Firearms to maintain proficiency with these perishable skills.
